Investigation: They Can’t find Any Proof Ilhan’s Father Naturalized

Former Minnesota congressional candidate AJ Kern, who ran against Ilhan Omar, says she obtained official letters from the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) showing no record of naturalization papers for Omar’s father.

The New York Post reported last week that the recent raid on Omar‘s home was specifically related to her and her father‘s citizenship status. They also acknowledged that Kern had requested information about Nur Omar Mohamed — originally Nur Said Elmi Mohamed.

Kern has been investigating Ilhan Omar’s citizenship for years. All the research you are reading now is Kern’s.

The Trump administration and federal investigators are probing Rep. Ilhan Omar over whether she qualified for derivative U.S. citizenship through her late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, amid claims that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has no record of his naturalization.

Following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted in June 2023 by former GOP candidate AJ Kern, USCIS issued a response (a Certificate of Non-Existence) stating they could not locate naturalization records for Omar’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed, under his name or known variations.

Omar has stated she obtained U.S. citizenship as a minor in 2000 through her father’s naturalization.

AJ Kern found evidence that she was 18, not 17, when her father received citizenship, if he received citizenship. Unless the father was naturalized while she was a minor, she did not receive citizenship.
