Judge Boasberg Hands Noncitizen Voter Lists to Radicals Suing to Stop the Cleanup

The Boasberg order shifts the fight from an allegation about California’s voter rolls to who the government names. It gives radical groups a chance to see the underlying data and question the reliability. The dispute is unfolding while California election officials continue processing ballots.

Federal Chief Judge James Boasberg is the administration’s nemesis on deportations. Unfortunately, he was appointed to the California case of 20,000 noncitizens registered to vote. Boasberg gave the Trump administration’s Department of Justice a deadline in the fight over approximately 20,000 California ballots.

Boasberg ordered the DOJ to provide radical immigration advocacy groups with its list of suspected noncitizen voters by 5 p.m. Friday.

Questions exist about the legitimacy of the lists, but there are other ways to check.

The order does not decide whether the people on the list were eligible to vote. It puts the government’s evidence at the center of a California election dispute, after other federal judges rejected the DOJ’s effort to make election officials set aside ballots connected to the names.

The US found 20,000 registered voters who are allegedly in the country illegally. They asked California to hold the ballots of those suspected voters. The government said a sample of about 200 showed that most or all of them had voted.

California refused. Lawsuits followed, with courts siding with California.

The Obama-appointed Judge Boasberg ordered the Trump DOJ and DHS to hand to radical groups the full list of states targeted for noncitizen voter removal and ballot segregation.

Boasberg’s order requires the Justice Department to turn over the list to lawyers for the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, known as CHIRLA, and to a California voter represented in the case.

CHIRLA is a far-left organization that promotes open-border policies.

CHIRLA has been identified on X by California-based attorney Laura Powell as an organization that is particularly involved in the LA riots and “resistance” to federal immigration law enforcement. Powell noted CHIRLA’s strong relationship with California and L.A. government leadership, including Mayor Karen Bass, and outlined how the nonprofit leads a coalition hotline where members of the public can send tips on the location of ICE agents, and how a rapid response network deploys activists.

More details on the Los Angeles Rapid Response Network and how it verifies reports of ICE activity and “mobilizes support” here.

The DOJ has said that more than 20,000 people who are “likely” noncitizens are registered to vote in California. Under state law, registered voters are mailed ballots. Federal law bars noncitizens from voting in federal elections.

The lawsuit is from Schumer, Jeffries, and the Democrat committees. Boasberg appears to be shielding the process that lets noncitizens stay on the rolls. He is unlikely to be protecting the election. There is no sense of urgency to do that. He does have a desire to hand critical information to a radical organization.

Impeach Boasberg!
