Slovenia’s Prime Minister: No One Imagined This When We Joined the EU
Marine Le Pen, an anti-EU politician, warned that a coup is underway in Poland. She believes the EU is behind it and is being vilified by the Left for saying it. But why is the EU silent while their supportive Polish Prime Minister seizes control of the Tribunal?
Janez Janšais has served as Prime Minister of Slovenia since 2026, a position he previously held from 2004 to 2008, from 2012 to 2013, and from 2020 to 2022. Since 1993, Janša has led the Slovenian Democratic Party, which has emerged as the pre-eminent Slovenian right-wing party.
Prime Minister Janša explains the problem:
“When we were deciding to join the EU, no one imagined that in any of its member states or in the Union as a whole it would be possible without consequences:
- To annul presidential elections (Romania);
- To abolish an informational program on the national RTV (Hungary);
- To send police to the Constitutional Court (Poland);
- Three weeks before the elections to send the leader of the polling party to prison (Slovenia);
- To occupy the national RTV with police and replace the management (Poland);
- To terminate the mandate of the national RTV leadership and carry out a purge of employees (Slovenia);
- To send members of the previous government to prison without the possibility of defense (Hungary);
- To grant nearly a million citizenships to illegal migrants through an expedited process (Spain);
- To shut down a new Nuclear Power Plant and build a gas pipeline to Russia (Germany);
- To tax carbon energy sources while simultaneously closing NPPs and relocating industry to countries with low environmental standards under the pretense that this is how we save the planet. An EU has emerged that must save itself from itself.”
The EU was supposed to be a cooperative to ensure peace and rebuild its economic structure. Now they silence the opposition by any means necessary and de-industrialize over an unproven climate emergency.
When the Clintons backed it in 1993, I thought it probably could become an authoritarian entity and was sorry to see it formed. Brussels had gotten to the point of telling countries what toasters they could sell. Then you had the formation of other overly large entities such as the World Bank, the World Health Organization, the World Economic Forum, the UN, and others, coming up with ideas they then forced on every member nation. The President, Ursula von der Leyen, was installed, not elected.
The further you move to big government and away from accountability by the people, the more you will see authoritarianism.
The EU was always a recipe for disaster.
