Decoy Dan, the Fraud Running for the Alaska Senate Is Missing

Evidence shows that Mary Peltola’s campaign for the Senate in Alaska, along with the DSCC and Chuck Schumer, knew about and worked on this decoy Dan J. Sullivan hoax for a year to shave votes off incumbent Dan S. Sullivan.

Dan S. Sullivan was sought out and agreed to run for the Senate to confuse voters.

Governor Michael Dunleavy wrote on X that he would investigate “whether this scheme violated Alaska’s laws”. He did not say which laws he had in mind. His comment came after the New York Times (NYT) story exposed the hoax.

I wonder when the Times knew.

Dan J. Sullivan, known as Decoy Dan, previously answered questions while not under oath. He could still be held to account. However, he is nowhere to be found at the moment. Democrats might have helped make a felon out of Decoy Dan.

He is probably hiding until after the votes are cast.

The Back Story

Dunleavy is directing the Department of Public Safety to investigate whether this scheme violated Alaska’s laws and whether criminal charges or civil action are warranted,” he wrote. “The evidence will determine what happens next.”

A Peltola campaign staffer was reportedly instructed in summer 2025 to search voter records for people named Dan Sullivan. The effort involved aides tied to the campaign, lawyers, and senior officials at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, along with operative Jerid Kurtz, who sources said traveled the state using a false identity while pitching potential candidates.

The plan succeeded in placing Dan J. Sullivan, a retired teacher from the small fishing village of Petersburg, on the general election ballot alongside the real Sen. Dan S. Sullivan, Peltola, and long-shot candidate Gerald Heikes.

The Justice Department has dramatically accelerated a criminal probe into whether Alaska Democrats sought to confuse voters by recruiting a Senate candidate intended to siphon votes from the Republican, issuing dozens of new grand jury subpoenas and homing in on new potential charges, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Democrats are fighting the DOJ lawsuit. Of course they are.
