Based on their anonymous sources, News Nation reported that Federal agents collected Ilhan Omar’s garbage in an attempt to obtain her DNA and that of her family before this week’s raid on her home.
Dumpster diving is nothing new, and it’s a legal way of getting to the truth.
Her Immigration Woes

The New York Post reports that Ilhan Omar’s staff helped alter her birthdate in public records after her 2018 election, raising fresh questions about her age and citizenship history.
Multiple sources familiar with the probe tell NewsNation that potential DNA evidence is critical to the investigation into Omar. They say the case is broader than the public may assume based on longstanding accusations surrounding her immigration history or marital status.
The Omar History
Ilhan’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed, was a colonel in the Somali Army under Siad Barre and served in the Ogaden War. Siad was a genocidal killer of the members of the Isaaq tribe who now live in a carved-out piece of land in Somalia called Somaliland.
Estimates place the death toll of the Isaaq genocide—carried out by the regime of Siad Barre against the Isaaq clan during the late 1980s—at an estimated 50,000 to 200,000 people.
The military junta, led by Siad Barre and his son-in-law Mohammed Said Hersi Morgan, targeted the Isaaq clan in northern Somalia (now Somaliland) during the Isaaq genocide/Somaliland War of Independence.
Organizations like Genocide Watch and historical studies on the Isaaq genocide cite the upper range of the death toll at around 200,000.
The Omar clan (specifically the Omar Mohamoud sub-clan) reportedly does not have direct institutional ties to the Isaaq genocide or the actions of Siad Barre and Mohammed Said Hersi Morgan, though they belong to the broader Majeerteen and Darod clan-family.
However, at least one expert believes Ilhan’s father lied and was a loyalist of the genocidal leader.
“He was a full colonel in Siad Barre’s military regime,” historian and Oxford University doctoral researcher Mohamed Haji Ingiriis told The Post. “Ilhan’s father was never an educator.
He added, “Nur Said was a military officer who was loyal to the regime until the end. He was part and parcel of those who caused and created the mayhem they ‘fled’ to live comfortably in the United States.”
Ingiriis believes that Nur was complicit in Barre’s crimes because he “assisted the dictator to remain in power for so long” and “he was protecting his career and his colonel position.”
The truth is, when the Omars fled in 1991, it was after the genocide and the beginning of the civil war.
The timing looks terrible for Omar and her family.
