President Trump Says He Can Stop Insulting ‘Dumocrats’ for 6 Months
President Trump said he can stop insulting Democrats for six months. He insists he could do it to make deals for the nation.
Ross Douthat of 60 Minutes mentioned incoming Texas Sen. James Talarico (D.), noting both his interest in working with Trump on immigration and the nickname Trump had bestowed on him.
“In the course of the campaign, you did occasionally call him TalaFreako,” Douthat said. “Do you think you could work with the Democrats without insulting them consistently?”
Then he called the opposition the Dumocrats.
“Yeah, I do,” Trump replied. “Sure I could. I also call many of them ‘dumocrats’ because their policies are bad.”
“If it took six months of not insulting the Democrats to get a deal done, do you think you could do it?” Douthat asked again.
He responded, “Very easily.”
