Hakeem Jeffries Demands More Environmental Laws in the Permitting Bill
Politico reports that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries supports the Senate permitting reform bill, but it must have bedrock changes to environmental laws and protections for tribal sovereignty.
Here we go again with climate change. A handy little ploy.
“We must once again support the clean energy economy and combat the climate crisis with the fierce urgency of now,” the spokesperson said. “However, the current Senate bill under consideration falls short in several areas, including the manner in which NEPA reform is undertaken and the failure to adequately protect tribal sovereignty.
“Leader Jeffries will not rubber-stamp legislation that emerges from the Senate without more constructive involvement with our Caucus as we fight to make life more affordable for the American people,” the spokesperson continued.
The Senate could pass the bill if they get rid of the filibuster. They won’t, and the real joke of it all is that Chuck Schumer is fighting for his existence, and if he doesn’t get rid of the filibuster, he’s dead in the water. He will nuke the filibuster, but our Republicans are weak.
