Gov. Ron DeSantis’s Chilling Warnings Ring True

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis described Republicans’ midterm losses nationwide as “close to an extinction-level event” Wednesday, while noting that Florida was the lone state to hold the line for the party.

Indeed, Florida is the only state that kept a Republican Governor. But, even in Florida, the elections were close. The insane communist Angie Nixon came close to winning a Senate seat. She keeps threatening to imprison Ashley Moody because Angie’s crazy. Senator-Elect Moody is a perfectly nice and honest person.

However, keep one thing in mind. We only lost an election, not the country. We can come back. America is a land of freedom and opportunity, and we mustn’t let that exceptionalism die. Let’s get those elephants shaped up.

This is a gloomy analysis, but just as everyone seemed to vote Democrat, they can turn around en masse and vote Republican if the party does the right thing.

Gov. DeSantis’s Analysis

“Last night we witnessed – to call it a wave, I don’t think would be fully accurate,” DeSantis told a Wednesday morning news conference. “It’s the political equivalent of a meteor strike that went all around the United States. Blue states, red states, everything in between.”

“This is close to an extinction-level event for Republicans in many parts of the country, as we have seen probably in the last 100 years,” he said.

“In January, when everyone in office leaves, who were either term-limited or got voted out of the ten largest states in this union, only one state will have Republican control of their state, the state of Florida,” he said.

Then, as we noted, he warned that it could be six years before we have another shot at Congress.

“You are not, as Republicans, going to be able to retake the Senate under this current map just two years from now, and with all the House seats that have been done, probably not viable to take that back as well,” he warned.

“If you go over the whole generation, no one holds a candle on the Republican side to the Lone Star State. And yet, not only did they lose a very highly publicized U.S. Senate race, they lost everything. The Governor, Attorney General, all the other statewide.”

“They lost four Republican Supreme Court justices on the Texas Supreme Court. They may even lose the Texas legislature or one house or even both. Let’s just be clear!”

“That is going to hurt. Not just for the next two years. That’s something that can reverberate for the next decade or more.”

“And if the Republican Party doesn’t have Texas as an anchor, then we are not going to be viable nationally going forward.”

Lawfare for the Final Blow

DeSantis warned about the lawfare, saying, “They have the gavels, and so they’re going to launch a lot of investigations, and it’s going to be in both chambers; it’s probably going to be across multiple committees.”

He also said there is now zero chance President Trump will be able to appoint any new Supreme Court justices, should the opportunity arise – nor would he be able to get any new Cabinet members approved.

DeSantis praised the passage of Amendment 3 in Florida, which could begin efforts to eliminate property taxes. He said if it hadn’t been for that amendment, Republicans may have not experienced the victories they did in Florida.

That is probably true. It’s about the economy, stupid!
