Constitutional Showdown in Poland as Police Flood Warsaw’s Streets
Prime Minister Donald Tusk is blaming Russia for the resistance to his coup. It sounds questionable. Tusk said, “Russian provocations will not break our vigilance. Politicians who thoughtlessly align themselves with the Kremlin’s actions must understand that Poland’s security is not a subject of political games.”
He wrote on X: “The solution to the conflict is simple and possible without changes to the Constitution. The President recognizes the judges legally elected by the Sejm, because that is what the Constitution stipulates, and they take up their duties in the Tribunal. For now, @NawrockiKn is choosing forceful confrontation, which could cost Poland very dearly. A democratic state under the rule of law cannot yield to violence, no matter how powerful external forces support the attack by PiS, Konfederacja, Braun, and Nawrocki. And it will not yield.”
Tusk has further claimed, “Restoring the rule of law is our duty. After years of PiS-led lawlessness, this is a difficult process, sometimes painful, and it requires decisive action. There is no other way.”
In a most ominous move, Prime Minister Donald Tusk has flooded Warsaw’s streets with police to crush protests.

President Nawrocki Accused Tusk of Criminality
Poland’s president Karol Nawrocki accused Prime Minister Donald Tusk of a crime against the constitution. He said, “Your former allies are gone; you have nothing left but violence.”
Speaking at the National Security Council, with Tusk sitting across from him, Nawrocki declared: “One man bears full responsibility for every police officer and for all illegal actions. Prime Minister Donald Tusk, you already know that you have made a mistake. Your former allies are no longer by your side, leaving you with nothing but violence.
President Nawrocki accused Tusk of pursuing an “ideological fantasy,” damaging Poland’s reputation abroad, frightening investors, and undermining public trust.
He condemned the government’s actions surrounding the constitutional tribunal, saying, “This is not how Democrats operate, Mr. Prime Minister.”
The president warned that he would use every constitutional power available to him to stop what he described as an attempt to subvert Poland’s constitutional order.
Finally, President Nawrocki said, “Before forgiveness can be granted, one must confess one’s sins and show repentance. He demanded that the Prime Minister make amends and “return Poland’s affairs to the Polish people.”
Nawrocki describes the government’s actions as an unlawful takeover, while Tusk’s government maintains that it is enforcing the legal rights of newly elected Tribunal judges.
Nawrocki’s allegations of criminal conduct and unconstitutional seizure remain contested and are not judicially established facts.
