Ilhan Omar & Her Husband Have a Phantom Investment Firm
Like the winery that doesn’t exist, Tim Mynett and his wife, Ilhan Omar, own an investment firm that seems phantom-like. A journalist named Angela Rose investigated the headquarters of Rose Lake Capital, a consulting firm that claims to manage $60 billion in assets. It appears not to exist.
They make a lot of money from companies that don’t exist, though Omar now says they don’t have much money at all.
The company can’t be found.
Journalist Rose went to see the consulting firm for herself, but it wasn’t in the building that allegedly houses it.
The company is reportedly based out of a co-working space called WeWork. The company is called Rose Lake Capital, and Ilhan Omar’s husband, Timothy Manette, co-owns it. “And similar to the winery in 2023, it made up to $51,000, and it had a sudden and very suspicious increase in net worth up to $30 million in 2024,” Rose writes.
Rose went to the company’s listed address of 80 M Street SE.
“I walked by every single office in this building, and everyone has their logos proudly displayed on the wall,” Rose said. She added, “I asked around for Rose Lake Capital and people were not familiar with it. I looked at every logo, and Rose Lake Capital did not have an office here.”
So, where the heck are they?
The winery was mostly non-existent.
We know the winery, eStCru, never existed beyond a few cases of wine and an investment from a friend, Naeem Mohd, who is still waiting for his money to be returned.
Mohd is a D.C. restaurant owner and investor who wired $300,000 to Mynett after being told he would see a $600,000 return on his investment. If it sounded too good, it was. He’s unlikely to see a return on his initial investment anytime soon.
They tried to sell wine, but it didn’t work out. Prominent advisors and current information about its employees, assets, and investors disappeared from the company website.
Financial disclosures filed by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) indicate that her husband owns stakes in two companies—eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC—whose reported value surged from $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024.
In a February letter to Rose Lake Capital LLC President and Rep. Omar’s husband, Timothy Mynett, Chairman Comer noted the companies’ lack of publicly available investor information and requested all documents and communications related to the finances of eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC.
Mynett is also a co-manager with Will Hailer of Born to Run GP LLC, a company which purported to control a $50 million investment fund. It doesn’t have $50 million, but allegedly has investors.

Ilhan Omar’s amazing gain and loss of wealth
Financial disclosures filed by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) indicate that her husband holds ownership stakes in two companies—eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC—whose reported value unexplainably surged from $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024.
Rose Lake Capital is a venture capital management firm co-founded by Tim Mynett (husband of U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar) and Will Hailer.
From $1,000 to $30 million in a year.
The firm drew congressional and media attention after Rep. Omar’s financial disclosures showed a sharp valuation jump—from under $1,000 in assets to a reported range of $5 million to $25 million—despite lacking public SEC registrations, verified investors, or an independent track record.
By 2024, she was allegedly worth $30 million, up from $1,000 in assets in 2023. That was according to her financial disclosure.
“There’s a lot of strange things going on,” said Paul Kamenar, counsel to the National Legal and Policy Center. “She was basically broke when she came into office. And now she’s worth perhaps up to $30 million…she needs to come clean on these assets.”
In a February letter this year to Rose Lake Capital LLC President and Rep. Omar’s husband, Timothy Mynett, Chairman Comer noted the companies’ lack of publicly available investor information. Comer requested all documents and communications related to the finances of eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC.
In late December 2025, the firm removed officer names, advisor profiles, and biographical details from its website.
Additional details and context are covered in reports such as Fox News.
By April of last year, she said the $30 million was an accounting error.
